In one sentence
A branded prompt is a question to an AI assistant that already names a brand, like "Is Ridgeline good for wide feet?", and it shows what AI tells shoppers who are already considering you.
Branded vs. unbranded prompts: what's the difference
Why branded prompts matter for ecommerce brands
A shopper asking about your brand by name is close to buying. They heard about you from a friend, an ad or an earlier AI answer, and now they're checking.
If the answer gets your sizing, price or return policy wrong, or leads with an old complaint, you can lose a sale you'd already earned. Branded prompts are where brand sentiment and accuracy matter most.
Examples of branded prompts shoppers ask AI
- "Is [brand] legit?"
- "[brand] vs. [competitor]: which is better?"
- "Does [brand] run true to size?"
- "What is [brand]'s return policy?"
- "Is [brand] worth the price?"
How to track branded prompts for your store
- List the questions shoppers ask about you. Your support inbox and product reviews are the best source.
- Ask each AI assistant those questions and note what it gets right, wrong or leaves out.
- Correct wrong facts at the source: your own product pages, FAQ page and policies first.
- Check again on a schedule, and add new questions as they show up in your inbox.
